High School Credit Makeup

Credit Retrieval and GPA Improvement Options

Students who are “Academically Ineligible” for the 201 spring semester meet at least one of the following requirements . . .

a) received an “F” grade in a course during the Fall 2014 semester

b) earned a semester GPA below a 2.0.

As such, students meeting at least one of the above requirements are ineligible to participate (play or practice) in extra-curricular activities until June 11th OR until the student has successfully retrieved his/her credit and/or improved his/her GPA through an approved make-up course.

La Salle High School has two approved options for students to either retrieve credit for a failed course or to improve a student’s GPA so that his/her fall semester GPA is above a 2.0.

A) registered, enrolled, and completed outside of class time at La Salle.

     a) all courses must be approved by Mr. K or Mr. Lamb before registering, enrolling, and paying for course!

B) upon successful completion of the course, La Salle is to be provided with the transcript of the course to be added to the student’s academic file.

C) upon successful completion of the course or courses, the academically ineligible student must have earned a passing grade AND have a cumulative semester GPA above 2.0.

     a) If a student failed a course in the fall semester, retrieved the credit by successfully passing an approved course, but still has a GPA below 2.0, the student is still academically ineligible.

D) if a student is attempting to become academically eligible because he/she had a fall semester GPA below 2.0, the student can . . .

     a) retake one or more of the classes he/she did not perform well on (i.e. retake Algebra I course because he/she received a D) in hope of earning a better grade to improve the student’s GPA.

          i) All courses are included in considering GPA. Retaking a course does not merely replace a previous grade.

b) enroll in a new, elective class in hope of earning a grade to improve the student’s GPA above a 2.0.
